I always have had a love of dogs but sadly my family did not share my joy. We had a few dogs when I was a child but they didn't stay long as my parents didn't want to "mess" with them!  I would dream of getting LOTS of dogs when I grew up and moved out. 

As an adult I had my share of rescues and mixed breeds. I also dabbled in Chinese Shar Pei when they first entered the country back in the early 80's. Way back before AKC even recognized them as a misc. class. 

I had entered dogs in obedience classes and decided to show in competition. So I needed an AKC recognized breed. But what!?  At an obedience  class in 1983 I was sitting outside and the BIGGEST dog in the world came and laid her head on my shoulder. She was, in fact, a 7 month old brindle Great Dane bitch owned and bred by Nikki Riggsbee. Nikki allowed me to walk her around and boy didn't I think I was something!!  I purchased her and her brother. Out of Ch. Waterwood's Brewmeister x Ch. Mountdania's Meg of Janik. The boy Christopher became my first breed and obedience champion. 

Although I seldom breed my goal is to produce healthy, happy, well adjusted, all around family members who you can take home with the MAIN GOAL being  for the dog to work on his/her inner couch potato!! The dog shows are a plus. As much as I love the shows and encourage them, it is not a priority. We have to live with these dogs and if they are not good family members, it will not be an enjoyable experience for any one.
